Ecuador’s El Universo entrusts Protecmedia with starting a process of technological renovation whose first step is to strengthen its presence on digital channels
The Ecuadorian newspaper, El Universo, leader in the city of Guayaquil and a national benchmark, has decided to set in motion the in-depth renovation of its technological platform, so that it can keep up with the times and have the most modern tools. Its intention is to continue offering the best information to its readers in a multimedia environment. To get this project under way, which will be done gradually, El Universo has turned to Protecmedia and its solutions.
As a first step, the Ecuadorian newspaper has decided to boost its digital presence, launching versions for tablets and smartphones that use both iOS and Android, as well as for e-paper. All of these use viewers specifically developed by Protecmedia. Not only is El Universo present on these media - so is Súper, another newspaper that it owns, and the magazines Sambo and La Revista, which is a weekly supplement.
These versions for digital channels make the most of the possibilities offered by these media, being enriched with various multimedia elements, such as photo galleries and videos, that offer the user a new reading experience and an extra dimension for all news items.
