Protecmedia includes Daedalus’s semantic technology to improve cataloguing and content searches

Protecmedia has reached an agreement with Daedalus, a company which specialises in the development of linguistic technologies (known as semantic enrichment), in order to integrate the latter’s technologies into its solutions to enhance the intelligence of the whole auto-cataloguing, enrichment, search and recovery of contents.

In the current multimedia scenario, with an enormous amount of content being generated every day, it is extremely important for media companies to have the right tools to increase the efficiency and quality of their production and open the door to new commercial strategies.

Among the possibilities that Daedalus’stechnology allows with respect to the enrichment and recovery of information, mention must be made of fuzzy, natural language or multilingual searches. And with respect to the treatment of content, of note are auto-cataloguing, the identification of entities (persons, organisations...) and other data of interest (dates, amounts of money...) or the extraction of relevant concepts.

This technology implemented by Protecmedia allows the media company to improve in two basic ways:

First, without the need for more resources, the company can carry out more effectively all tasks related to the cataloguing and enrichment of textual or multimedia content. Thanks to linguistic technologies, it is possible to identify references to specific entities or dates, detect relevant concepts, tag the content with data relating to these aspects and categorise them, applying standard or tailor-made classifications. This enables an improvement to be made to the consistency, management and control of this vital asset for editorial firms.

In addition, the search functionalities in natural and semantic language multiply the possibilities of exploiting and reusing the stored content and enormously aid the work of professionals when searching and recovering them, making possible more efficient and better quality work. This instant and relevant search capacity over large volumes of multimedia content also enables companies to develop new products and innovative commercial strategies with regard to their news assets.
